Run Away From Nineteen Eighty-Four

Statement

This tutorial is intended solely for the study and research of cybersecurity and related internet technologies. Its purpose is to help readers cultivate a proper understanding of online security, remain vigilant against high-risk activities on the internet, and safeguard their property, data, and personal privacy. Knowledge itself is neutral; this tutorial does not encourage or condone the use of any information herein to violate the laws or regulations of any country or region. The overseas internet is far from an ideal realm of freedom. In fact, it is filled with hidden risks and dangers. So, I earnestly urge everyone to remember that true freedom does not reside in the world as it is — it resides only within our hearts.

但你记住,真正的恩典只在我们心中。

  1. Download the latest release from v2rayN GitHub Releases
  2. Unzip and copy the folder to a permanent location for software
  3. Open the folder and run v2rayn.exe

Step 2: Import Configuration

  1. Copy the subscription link (usually starts with the protocol name)
  2. Click “Configurations” in the menu
  3. Select “Import Share Links from clipboard”

v2rayN Settings

For optimal balance between functionality and convenience:

  • System Proxy: Set system proxy
  • Routing: Whitelist
  • Tun Mode: Disable

System Proxy Options Explained

The system proxy setting determines how v2rayN integrates with your system’s network settings.

Clear System Proxy

Removes any proxy configuration from system settings. Use this to completely disable proxy routing and return to direct connections.

Set System Proxy

Automatically configures Windows system proxy settings to route all traffic through v2rayN. This is the recommended option for most users as it:

  • Works seamlessly with most applications
  • Requires no additional configuration in browsers or other software
  • Can be easily toggled on/off

Do Not Change System Proxy

v2rayN won’t modify system proxy settings. Useful when:

  • You want to manually configure proxy in specific applications only
  • Other proxy management software is already handling system settings
  • You need more granular control over which apps use the proxy

PAC Mode (Proxy Auto-Config)

Uses a PAC script to automatically decide which traffic goes through proxy. The script contains rules that:

  • Route international sites through proxy
  • Send domestic traffic directly (faster and more stable)
  • Best for: Users who want smart routing without manual configuration
  • Note: May require additional PAC file setup

Routing Modes Explained

Routing determines which destinations are proxied. This works in conjunction with your system proxy setting.

Global

All traffic goes through the proxy, regardless of destination.

  • Pros: Simple and ensures everything is proxied
  • Cons: Slower for domestic sites, may trigger rate limits
  • Use when: Maximum privacy is needed or testing proxy functionality

Only specified domains/IPs go through proxy; everything else goes direct.

  • Pros: Fast access to domestic sites, reduces proxy load
  • Cons: Requires maintaining a whitelist of sites that need proxy
  • Use when: You mainly need proxy for specific sites (academic, international services)
  • Perfect for: Academic research, accessing specific international platforms

Blacklist

Only specified domains/IPs go direct; everything else goes through proxy.

  • Pros: Ensures most traffic is proxied while allowing domestic site exceptions
  • Cons: Higher proxy load, may slow down domestic services if not configured properly
  • Use when: You want most traffic proxied but need domestic sites to bypass

Academic Sites Configuration

For academic users, add these domains to your Whitelist to ensure seamless access to research platforms:
